Our “Social” dish carrier has gotten great reviews from our customers but some people seem to think that a dish carrier is only good for carting a lasagna around town. With respect to all lasagna lovers (we’ve been known to chow down on a good lasagna ourselves), there are so many other ways to use this little duo.
To enlighten, we’ll be periodically sharing some of our favourite dishes to transport. Bon Appetite!
Traditional Chocolate Chip Cookies
These are a family favourite in one of the J+J households, often made by one of the kids (and polished off quickly by the rest of the "kids"- big and small).
Scoring points is easy when you show up with these bickies in hand. However, carrying them in your mitts is bound to get messy on warm summer days so pop them in one of our carriers before you hit the road. (Just try to keep from polishing them off before you arrive at your destination).
2 ¼ cup plain flour
1 teaspoon bicarbonate soda
1 teaspoon salt
200 g butter
¾ cup caster sugar
¾ cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
200 g dark or milk chocolate bits or pieces
Preheat oven to 190°C (170°C fan-forced) and line baking trays with baking paper. Combine flour, bicarbonate soda and salt in a bowl. Beat butter, sugars and vanilla extract in large mixer bowl until creamy. Add eggs and beat well. Gradually stir in flour mixture. Fold in chocolate bits. Drop rounded spoonfuls onto baking trays.
Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown. Cool on baking trays for two minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely (if you can last that long).
